Welcome from
Brinthan Nanthabalan
JDA Deaf Community O昀케cer
Hi Readers!
We’ve had a fantastic summer
together and, as you will see from
this magazine, we have a wonderful time ahead — including
our 昀椀rst restaurant outing for a Festive Lunch on
Tuesday 17 December!
Exciting news! At Dcafe on Tuesday afternoons we will
have a di昀昀erent speaker every month giving talks and
running interactive workshops. This will keep us informed
about what’s out there for the Deaf community and help
broaden our knowledge.

In September VoluntEars will inform us about overseas
volunteering opportunities for Deaf people. In October,
StandUp Interfaith will educate us on how to understand
and deal with hate crime, antisemitism and anti-Muslim
hate. In November, Carolyn Nabarro will explain dementia,
which a昀昀ects lots of Deaf people as they age.
And everyone is welcome at our fantastic Wednesday
outings! Check out the programme, come along and see for
yourself how much fun it is!
If you live in an area where there is no Deaf Service
to support you, and you need help with paperwork,
telephone calls, booking interpreters, accessing services
— anything at all — please come to our Tuesdays drop-in
— Jessica and Hannah are here to help you.
Keep well and keep smiling!
