Legislative Success
Aside from being the state’s
highest-profile Trump supporter,
Jones has seen success in his official role as lieutenant governor. Under Georgia’s system, this office has
some power— unlike many states
where the role is more relegated
under the governor. In Georgia, the
lieutenant governor can especially
work to move, amend or block legislation since he sits as the head of
the Senate chamber.
Indeed, Jones is proud of various
pieces of legislation which passed
the General Assembly in his two
years since assuming office.
“I’m proud of the school choice
measures that we got passed this

past session. That’s something that’s
been present at the Capitol for the
last six or seven years. And we finally got something done on that this
past session,” said Jones.
There’s another bill that was
signed into law by the governor that
Jones is pleased about— one which
ultimately may have a big impact
on the state’s healthcare system.

Certificate of Need reform, which
gives all Georgians more access to
healthcare services around the state.
People who want to open or expand
medical facilities won’t have to go
through as many burdens and regulatory measures anymore.”
