ft. A separate greenhouse was also
constructed for horticulture instruction. The space includes multiple office
spaces, a conference room, and an
outdoor patio overlooking the pond,
where students can gather and study.
The arena held its first diary show in
January and will serve as a community space for many young people,
including 4-H and FFA participants.
We partnered with Piedmont
Athens Regional Medical Center,
Piedmont Newton, Piedmont Rockdale
and Piedmont Walton to introduce a
second nursing program at our Walton
Campus for the 2022 summer semester. This new program met the student
interest and community demand with
the program expansion to reduce the
shortage of registered nurses in the
area. The expansion allows for up to
30 additional students in the college’s
Nursing Program. This brings the total
program to 139 registered nursing
students per year.

Recently, we received funding to
grow and update our Walton campus.
The $9.875 million investment will be
crucial to meeting the community’s
needs. Not only will we update the
facility, but we will also look to add
additional high-demand programs like
Supply Chain Management, Electrical

Mechatronics and Welding.
JAMES The college has seen a 133 per-
cent increase in enrollment over the
last 12 years. What do you attribute to
that big increase?
