DEREK SCHILLER
PAUL SHAILENDRA
ALAN SHAW
PRESIDENT & CEO, ATLANTA BRAVES
PRESIDENT, SG PROPERTY SERVICES
PRESIDENT & CEO, NORFOLK SOUTHERN
Overseeing the Braves’ day-to-day
business operations means Schiller has been one of the driving
forces behind the organization’s
partnership with the Battery Atlanta— an
impressive model for professional sports
teams worldwide. Schiller and team continue to generate record-breaking profits, as
successful (if not more so) off the field as it
is on the diamond.
This prominent commercial real
estate executive does business
throughout the Southeast. Shailendra is also a major Georgia Tech
alumnus and booster, serving on the school’s
board for the College of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The avid outdoorsman also
serves on the board for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
BILL SCHNEIDER
PRESIDENT, SG CONTRACTING
Shaw engineered Norfolk Southern’s move when it left Richmond for Atlanta and built a new
Midtown headquarters. Last year
the company was criticized after a nationally-publicized Ohio train derailment involving hazardous materials. But Shaw and his
executive team are striving to bounce back
as they oversee nearly 30,000 miles of rail
spanning the eastern U.S. from Louisiana to
New York.
VICE PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER, FOX 5
ATLANTA/WAGA-TV
For two productive years, ending in
January 2022, the well-connected
businessman effectively chaired
the University System Board of
Regents. He enjoys “building things,” and
his company’s record of projects reads like
a “Wall of Fame” among subcontractors,
architects and designers. He chairs the
Rowen Foundation, overseeing development
of a 2,000-acre Gwinnett County “knowledge
community” which is envisioned to be a
global research destination.
Going into his 15th year leading
Fox5Atlanta, Schneider continues
to enhance the station’s recognized
position as a local media powerhouse. Known for its I-team investigations,
breaking news updates and such shows as
“Good Day Atlanta” and “The Georgia Gang,”
Schneider’s team includes news director
Scott Stucky, assistant news director Amy
Oates and managing editor Cal Callaway.
SACHIN SHAILENDRA
ALANA SHEPHERD
CO-FOUNDER, SHEPHERD CENTER
James’ 2023 “Georgian of the Year”
co-founded the Center in 1973 with
husband Harold after their son
James suffered a spinal cord injury.
It grew from a six-bed unit to a world-class
rehabilitation hospital, and Shepherd became
a trailblazer in the Atlanta community. She
has been chair of the Buckhead Coalition and
served on the boards of Genuine Parts and
Wachovia Bank of Georgia.

The third generation of Shepherds
to lead the Atlanta-based rehabilitation hospital, Jamie is following
in his father’s and grandparents’
footsteps. Shepherd Center continues to grow
in both size and stature, ranked a top 10 rehabilitation hospital in the nation by U.S. News
and World Report.
KIRBY SMART
HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
Georgia’s highest-paid state employee has become the consensus
top coach in college football after
winning consecutive national
championships in 2021 and 2022, (and the
retirement of his rival/mentor in Tuscaloosa). The Bainbridge native might just be the
most popular man in the state after returning his alma mater to the top of the college
football ladder.
JEFF SPRECHER
CEO, INTERCONTINENTAL EXCHANGE
This 2015 James “Georgian of
the Year” (along with wife Kelly
Loeffler) founded the Intercontinental Exchange as an energy-trading start-up in 2000. Thirteen years
later the Sandy Springs-based company’s
profile exploded when it purchased the New
York Stock Exchange, launching it into the
Fortune 500. The Atlanta billionaire remains
a high-profile Republican donor and an
important civic leader as well.
