The Savannah Hilton Head International Airport (SAV) continues to grow.
It is pulsing with development across
all segments of our aeronautical and
nonaeronautical operational areas to
include the following:
1. Air Service & Passenger Traffic
Seats The number of available seats
has increased to 2,531,701 in 2024,
representing an all-time high and an 8
percent increase over 2023. Seats are
projected to continue to grow in 2025.
New Routes: Airlines continue to be
bullish on our market. Service to Ft.
Lauderdale, Punta Gorda and St. Petersburg, Florida were added in 2024.
More new routes are expected in 2025.
Passengers Total passenger counts are
expected to exceed 4 million in 2024
for the first time ever. This growth
in passengers has landed SAV firmly
within the top 75 busiest airports in
the United States.
2. Air Cargo Construction on SAV’s
$100 million Air Cargo complex is
underway. This project includes over
100,000 sq. ft. of new sort facilities and
a parallel support taxiway. This project
will be a gamechanger for our region
by providing ample state-of-the-art Air
Cargo processing space as this part of
the state continues to grow.
3. Terminal Facilities A new 24,000
sq. ft. passenger screening facility has
been completed at SAV. This new space
will accommodate up to 8 lanes of
screening operations with a throughput
of 1,400 passengers per hour.
Work has begun on a $30 million
gate expansion project at the East end
of the terminal building. This four-gate
expansion will ensure facilities are
in place to accommodate the needs
of the air carriers as we continue to
expand operations here at SAV. The
expansion will also allow for additional
concession space to meet the needs of
the passengers.
4. Parking A new $13 million,
1,000-space surface parking lot was
opened just prior to the very busy
Thanksgiving travel period. This will
be followed by a new $80 million,
2,000-space parking deck, which is
currently in the design phase. When
completed, this will bring the total
number of public parking spaces at
the Airport to 8,000.
5. Fixed Base Operators Signature Aviation and Sheltair Aviation continue
to add capacity here at SAV. Signature
