As we rebuild from Helene, our
focus remains on the future. Georgia’s
population is growing, and our energy
needs are evolving. To meet this opportunity, Georgia Power is committed to
expanding smart technology, diversifying energy sources and strengthening
our public-private partnerships.
We will continue to improve our
infrastructure, and we are working
to grow our self-healing grid to cover
even more of our territory— thus ensuring faster restoration times and fewer
disruptions. As we grow and diversify
our generation sources, we remain
committed to our mission of bringing
clean, safe, reliable and affordable
energy to every corner of our state.
FOSTERING RELIABILITY
Last year we joined with many
local, state and federal leaders, customers, and industry partners to celebrate
the completion of the new nuclear units
at Plant Vogtle— now the country’s
largest generator of clean energy— and
we recently marked our first large-scale

Columbus. These are just a couple of
examples of how we continue to focus
on ensuring that we have the power
our customers need whenever they flip
a light switch, make a pot of coffee, or
turn their computer on.
Helene was an incredible challenge, but it was also a proof point.
The investments we’ve made in smart
technology, physical infrastructure,
generation assets and innovation
are already paying off, but there is
more to do. As our state continues
its unprecedented growth and our
energy needs increase exponentially,
continued investment will be essential to keeping Georgia competitive,
connected, and resilient.
Hurricane Helene was a historic
storm that required an unprecedented
response and coordination from so
many other teams across Georgia. My
heartfelt thanks goes to our teams in
the field, who put their lives on hold
until every affected customer’s power
had been restored, and who I firmly
believe to be the best in the world. We
are also so grateful to state leaders
including Gov. Brian Kemp, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency
and other state agencies, members of
the Georgia PSC, as well as members
of the legislature and its leadership,
alongside local county commissioners,
mayors, first responders, law enforcement and countless others. They were
all on the ground with us and continue
to be incredible partners as we rebuild
our infrastructure.
And as our communities continue
rebuild, I am reminded of why I’m so
privileged to lead the amazing Georgia
Power team. Despite a rapidly changing world, our mission remains the
same as it was in 1883, the year we
were founded: to provide clean, safe,
reliable and affordable energy to every
corner of our state.
We are proud and honored to be
here for Georgia.
