A LEVEL
Geography A level is a topical and contemporary course
that will challenge your perceptions and develop your
investigative and analytical skills. With a focus on current
and future issues facing the world, you will use modern case
studies and create your own fieldwork investigation to help
you understand how these changes are affecting both
societies and the natural environment, while identifying
ways of managing these challenges sustainably.
Studying German is an exciting and engaging opportunity
to further your language skills and knowledge of the
German speaking world. Through social, intellectual and
cultural themes you will be able to develop your linguistic
knowledge and cultural understanding of the countries
and communities where these languages are spoken.
An opportunity to study film and literature will further
immerse you in the culture.

The geography fieldwork investigation involves an individual report
which must include data collected in the field. Many students follow
this course with a geography related degree, while others find that
employers value the critical thinking and decision-making skills
which geography students gain through A level studies.
Course Specific Entry Requirements:
You will need a GCSE grade 6 in geography
or another humanities subject.

The topics include social issues and trends, being a young person in
a German-speaking society, understanding the German-speaking
world, social issues and trends, diversity and difference, political,
intellectual and artistic culture and the making of modern Germany
1989 onwards.
Studying languages can lead to higher education and further
language study. It can provide access to careers in business,
commerce and industry, travel and tourism, teaching and research,
journalism, translation and interpreting. Learning languages also
helps with gaining more from leisure and cultural experiences.
