COMPLAINTS ON THE RISE
According to newly published Financial
Ombudsman Service (FOS) data
the number of 昀椀nancial complaints
received in the second half of 2023
rose by a 昀椀fth. The FOS saw an
increase in general insurance cases
– with car or motorcycle insurance
complaints rising the sharpest – partly
due to continued delays during the
claims process as well as insurers’
valuations of a vehicle, it said.
This view is backed up by DataLabs’
analysis of Financial Conduct Authority
(FCA) 昀椀gures which show motor
remains the most complained about
product line with more than 2.5 million
complaints over the last 昀椀ve years. In
fact, motor insurers with complaints
about motor insurer were up by almost
a 昀椀fth (18.2%) over the last year.

and repairable mobility". Ben, who will
report into chief commercial of昀椀cer
Miller Crockart, joined Thatcham
Research in 2017, bringing over 20
years’ experience in the engineering
industry, encompassing aerospace,
defence (Martin Baker Aircraft) and
automotive (Jaguar Land Rover),
Ben is also a fellow of the Institute of
Mechanical Engineers and a Chartered
Engineer.
