FIEA BOARD
MEETING
TECHNICAL DAY AND
GENERAL MEETING

The FIEA President, Jacques
Trassoudaine, opened the meeting,
welcoming the delegates from the
various institutes. He explained that
he wanted to see links between its
members strengthened.
Membership subscription payments for
2023 were almost up to date, with just
a few outstanding, and membership
was increasing at the rate of one
member each day. He advised that
Board Meetings were less expensive in
Spain, and that the next one would be
in Barcelona.
Speedernet, the distance learning
company based in Lyon, which the

FIEA has been promoting to its
members, has not proved to be
successful, due to its low member
uptake. There has also been a cost to
the FIEA, and therefore the agreement
with them is being terminated. The
FIEA has learned from this experience.
to provide input regarding the
implications of the mass importation
of electric vehicles from China (see the
Technical article from Dean Lander,
Head of Repair Sector Services at
Thatcham Research on page 20 for
more on this).
Julien Jouvrot, delegate of UPEUS,
France advised that the FIEA has been
a subscriber to SEPLIS (European
Secretariat for the Liberal Professions)
for some years. It is an organisation
promoting and representing
professionals at government level. It
was considered that it had proved to
have had limited value for the FIEA,
and discontinuing its membership
is being considered. SEPLIS has,
however, approached the FIEA
Jacques explained that the FIEA is
looking to expand its membership into
Scandinavia and Africa. Souleymane
Coulibali, delegate for CIEAMI of
the Ivory Coast, advised that he had
several contacts in West Africa who
could support this initiative.
The subject of members requiring a
degree quali昀椀cation was discussed.
At the previous Board Meeting in
Marseille, I asked delegates which of
