CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY REPORT
Industriens Pension’s own
circumstances
Serving as a good example
Industriens Pension’s demands on cooperation
partners to act responsibly mean that employees
at Industriens Pension are subject to similar
requirements. Consequently, employees are
expected to demonstrate a high degree of
responsibility, integrity and ethical awareness.
Policies and guidelines are regularly drawn up to
support such integrity.
Data ethics
Most recently, a data policy has been drawn up,
providing a number of guidelines for data ethics.
Thus, it is a requirement that member data be
stored and managed appropriately, and that
relevant legislation in force at any time, including
the GDPR, be regarded as a minimum standard for
work on data ethics. Industriens Pension supports
the Danish Insurance Association’s data ethics
principles and follows developments in what the
industry and society at large consider as
responsible data ethics behaviour.
New solutions are designed with data ethics in
mind to ensure integration of data ethics from the
start. Furthermore, all employees regularly take elearning courses, which helps to develop a culture
in which errors and breaches are reported. More
specifically, two breaches of personal data
security were reported to the Danish Data
Protection Agency in 2021.
The Danish Data Protection Agency has completed
its processing of both cases and stated that it will
take no further action in relation to the breaches.
Data security breaches at Industriens Pension are
primarily the result of isolated human errors
causing personal data to unintentionally be sent or
disclosed to a wrong recipient. This and other
similar risks are regularly being assessed, and,
through training, controls and/or IT support,
Industriens Pension seeks to minimise the scope of
such incidents.
INDUSTRIENS PENSION’S OWN CIRCUMSTANCES
In 2021, Industriens Pension was the first
company in Denmark to receive sustainability
certification of its owner-occupied properties
under to the new principles for buildings in use.
All electricity to operate the property became
“green” in 2021, and there is continued focus on
introducing further initiatives to reduce negative
impacts on the environment. For example, the
canteen scheme mainly includes organic products,
and 30% of the “hot dish of the day” is available as
a vegetarian option. Furthermore, there is focus
on avoiding food waste, disposable plastic has
been phased out, and fruit is delivered by bicycle.
The policy for acquiring company cars has been
changed so that in future, all new company cars
will be low-emission cars. 2022 will see continued
work in this area, the objective being to breathe
even more life into the guidelines for sustainable
employee behaviour in the organisation.
Climate and the environment
Industriens Pension supports society’s efforts to
reduce climate change and acknowledges its own
responsibility to contribute to these efforts.
Consequently, Industriens Pension strives to
reduce its own negative impact on the
environment.

In 2021, Industriens Pension’s head office in
Copenhagen was the first building in Denmark
to achieve DGNB Certification according to
the new principles for buildings in use.
To achieve DGNB certification, buildings must
comply with strict requirements for
environmental and social sustainability. Up to
now, certifications have primarily been for
new construction, aiming to ensure futureproof and sustainable buildings. However,
one of the goals of the new standards for
buildings in use is to encourage more
initiatives to make the existing building stock
more sustainable.
Table 4 shows the calculation of Industriens
Pension’s own environmental data. The scope 1
increase is because, unlike in 2020, the heads of
customer relations now have cars leased by
Industriens Pension, whereas previously, they used
their own cars. Emissions from these cars have
therefore been moved from scope 3 to scope 1.

The reduction in emissions in scope 2 is primarily
because the owner-occupied property operated
exclusively on green power in 2021. Emissions under
scope 3 are lower than previously, both in 2020 and
2021. Emissions under scope 3 primarily come from
business-related air travel, which was at a very low
level in 2021 due to COVID-19.
Air travel is expected to increase in 2022, but
positive experience with more frequent use of video
conferences over the last couple of years is likely to
keep air travel at a lower level than before the
pandemic.
