Exception 2.
Exception 1.
Required tasks to complying with the requirements of Special Inspection of Fabricated items:
1. Prior to issuance of the Building Permit, provide the Building Department with a copy of the selected Fabricator's current shop accreditation/certification.
2. At the completion of fabrication, the Special Inspector and/or Special Inspection Agency shall obtain from the approved Fabricator a Certificate of Compliance stating that the work was
performed in accordance with the approved construction documents and submit all certifications to the Building Official as required per Sections 1704.5 and 1704.2.5.1.

Special Inspections during fabrication are not required where the fabricator maintains approved detail fabrication and quality
control procedures that provide a basis for control of the workmanship and the fabricator's ability to conform to approved
construction documents and MBC 2015. Approval shall be based upon review of fabrication and quality control procedures and
periodic inspections of fabrication practices by the Building Official. Approval by the Building Official required to use this
exception.
Special Inspections are not required where the fabricator is registered and approved in accordance with Section 1704.2.5.1.
Section 1704.2.5.1 (Fabricator Approval): Special Inspections during fabrication are not required where the work is done on the
premises of a fabricator registered and approved to perform such work without Special Inspections. Approval shall be based
upon review of the Fabricator's written procedural and quality control manuals and periodic auditing of fabrication practices
by an Approved Agency (An established and recognized agency that is regulary engaged in conducting tests or furnishing
inspections services, where such agency has been approved by the Building Official).

FABRICATED ITEMS (1705.10):
Special Inspections of fabricated items shall be performed in accordance with Sections 1704.2.5
Where fabrication of structural, load-bearing or lateral load-resisting members or assemblies is being conducted on the premises of Fabricator's shop, Special
Inspections of the fabricated items shall be performed during fabrication, unless one of the two exemptions below apply:
