The 4th Journey of Compassion: a lineage of
'Tathagata Bud'
Reincarnation:
The reincarnation system of
Living Buddhas is a unique
feature of Tibetan
Buddhism, originating in the
13th century. The term
'Living Buddha', known as
'Tulku' in Tibetan, refers
to various incarnations of
Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and
Mahasiddhas guiding and
benefiting sentient beings.
According to Buddhist
teachings, all sentient
beings continuously
reincarnate within samsara
across six realms. The
Living Buddhas also
reincarnate; however,
unlike ordinary beings who
are reincarnating driven by
karmic forces, Living
Buddhas reincarnate out of
compassion to benefit and
liberate sentient beings,
carrying their
enlightenment into our
world.
After a Living Buddha
passes away, processes such
as searching for a
reincarnation candidate,
recognition, and
enthronement are usually
conducted to confirm the
next reincarnation. For the
benefits of all sentient
beings, compassionate Gurus
will continue to return life
after life...
