Spring Forward
The month of March holds much significance for me, and I feel more aware of the changing of the energy and the
burgeoning of Spring as March unfolds. The equinox brings with it confirmation that the warmth of the Sun brings hope
and opportunity, with the full moon, the “Worm” moon reflects that light and hope. This feels much needed after the
maelstrom of the February new moon/Lunar New Year and the huge solar storms that have ravaged our energy systems
this last month.
The worm moon is said to symbolise, amongst other
things, the return of worms to the thawing earth,
however, Worm is also another term for Dragon. Worm
or Wyrm can be found in place names around our
beloved Isle and my favourite example is Worms head
which can be seen from Llangennith beach on the
Gower in West Wales, our family summer camping
spot. The rocky outcrop of Worm’s head looks to me
like that of a sleeping Dragon, resting her head in the
deep and loving waters of the Sea.
We have entered the Year of the Wood Dragon and
last month I suggested that you go for a walk in the
forest or out in nature in general. I offer this guidance
again, this time to revel in the lifeblood of Mother
Nature rising again and bringing life and the green
back into focus. The warmth of Father Sun can really
start to be felt and with it, we can use this energy
magically for insight and inspiration. The Druids used a
symbol and energy called Awen (Inspiration) to help
them create beautiful music, poetry and magic. So,
when you are out in nature and feel the warmth of the
Sun upon your face you can visualise or draw the
symbol of Awen upon your brow and ask for insight,
illumination of the path forwards or for sound and
song to fill your heart and guide your voice to truth
and Divine inspiration. We can also use a symbol
connected with the Dragons for this same purpose,
the Dragon’s eye.
This can be drawn upon the brow in a similar fashion
to the Awen symbol, and then pictured as folding into
your mind’s eye to again give insight or inspiration to
a given situation you wish to learn more about. As with
all things magical, make sure that your intent is pure,
you are protected by your guardians and guides and
more importantly that you really want to know the
answer to the questions you ask, for it may differ from
the answer that you want.
A guided meditation “Heart of Glastonbury March” to
connect with these energies is available to all readers,
via my website.
For more insights and methods of working with this
and other Dragon magic, why not join me for my
