AchievementsFinancial managementFleet managementOur strong financial management has enabled a significantinvestment to be made in our housing stock. In 2019-20our budget for housing maintenance was £6.5m covering arange of improvements, maintenance and environmentalenhancements. We have a Fleet Strategy for our vehicles which considers thecorporate commitment we have to improve sustainability andreduce greenhouse gas emissions. Between 2016-2017 our fleetemitted 161 tonnes CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent), 119 kgNitrogen Oxide and 8 kg Particulate Matter. With more efficientvehicles being introduced the level of pollution emissions hasfallen, helping us meet the corporate objective. We are committed to continue to strive to be greener and areinvestigating the use of electric vehicles when it is economicallyviable to do so.ProcurementOur procurement approach supports the wider socialvalue objectives of the Council, including employmentopportunities, work experience, training and developmentand community investment. We are committed as a Councilto these objectives and offer apprenticeships and workexperience opportunities within the team.Performance monitoringThe Housing Service has consistently monitored how it performs. For the past few years we have employed an independentcompany to randomly survey our tenants every month toensure that we are maintaining our standard. In 2018 -19 ourindependently assessed satisfaction level for the MaintenanceService was 89% for the overall housing service – a figure wehave consistently maintained over the years. The gas contract let in 2019 reflects this social value objectivewith a requirement for the contractor to employ and trainseveral apprentices from the local community.Lettable standardSince the last Housing Asset Management Strategy, wehave made investment commitments to maintain assetsto an agreed property standard (which we call our ‘LettableStandard’) along with other prioritised investments andimprovements. We have made a new 5-year investmentplan that reflects our investments priorities and availableresources, which was approved in 2018.12
