COP 22/23 - Report - Side 7
2. STATEMENT
FROM OUR CEO
This year I have been quoted for having a fetish for data in
the “Transformation Leader” catalogue - While the quote may
be given in a humoristic sense, the exemplified importance,
of using data as a catalyst for change in the sustainable transition, is nonetheless true.
Open dialogue
Previously we have been very focused about, only communicating about our sustainable initiatives when we had a third
party accreditation, to verify that what we said were accurate, but to balance the line between “Green Hushing” and
“-Washing”, we now know that we need ongoing communication of our sustainable learning and development process.
Gathering data and using it for something constructive is part
of our DNA, therefore implementing a data driven approach
to our sustainable strategy, is a key focus to ensure transparency and enable waves of responsible initiatives throughout
our value chain, because we need to learn from each others
actions.
Our customers and partners are extremely aware and knowledgeable about the sustainable agenda, and know that it is
no longer something we can just talk about or face by minor
initiatives.
– We need to do something,
and we need to do it now!
Data target the dialogue with our customers, they know when
we are doing good and bad, and when we have initiated a
project to improve, and while it requires a mutual trust in the
data we are presenting, it also creates a closer cooperation
in how we can improve together, because it allows an open
dialogue.
Remove the buzz, lets talk facts
When we look at the efforts we have made around our sustainability, responsibility, and digitization of data it has given
us a more streamlined organization. We speak the same
language, we communicate the same, we do the same and
it enables us to meet the upcoming requirements to reporting.
This is great, as we find that the best solutions arise when we
manage to engage our entire organization.
However, it also create a need to remove all of the buzz
words, abbreviations and similar to be able to formulate
sustainability into something understandable. Because quite
frankly who, unless you don’t work with anything else, understand the long list of CO2, LCA, EPD, CSRD, ESG, SDG
and so on? I’m afraid we are creating an elite club, of fancy
speaking experts trying to solve our problems, and I see it
as one of our primary tasks, to ensure that sustainability is for
everyone, talking in facts that all of us are able to act upon.
Our focal point is still to ensure sustainability, that is interesting, attractive, and needed for our strategic stakeholders:
• You, the customer
• The people involved in the manufacturing
process
• The environment
On behalf of HORN, I
would like to thank you
for the interest you are
showing in this report
and thereby our organization.
