As part of the programme, HL BaSE
organised a session for the Ocean
Conservation Trust (OCT), an ocean
conservation charity, focused on
habitat restoration and ocean related
behaviour change. The session, led
by infrastructure partner Philip
Brown, brought together lawyers
from our real estate, insurance and
product liability and infrastructure
practice, as well as the head of the
firm’s global sustainability practice
to discuss OCT’s plan to create
a series of carbon sequestration
projects using seagrass regeneration
off the southwest coast of the UK.
The workshop was a collaborative
session which provided OCT with
the opportunity to talk through
possible scenarios they may face,
and how OCT could best address the
risks associated with their plans. The
lawyers were able to advise on issues
ranging from biodiversity net gain
requirements to potential liability
issues which could arise due to
accidental damage to the seagrass.
