In 2022, our CEO signed the CEO Action for Diversity
and Inclusion™ pledge, which is the largest CEO-driven
initiative to advance diversity and inclusion in the
workplace. This initiative provides a variety of tools
and resources that we can use to expand our diversity
and inclusion goals and improve engagement and
participation across our organization.
Our people are our most important asset. Every
coworker plays a fundamental role in achieving our
organizational goals and the value we create for our
customers, shareholders and communities.
We strive to foster diversity and inclusion at all
levels of the company through transparency,
respect and inclusive policies and communication.
This commitment extends beyond our walls to
initiatives that support diverse communities
where all are welcome.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION GOALS
• Establish and measure D&I goals and
maintain accountability
• Foster an inclusive culture
• Manage talent and foster career growth
for all coworkers
• Ensure diversity and inclusion is a core
principle of Highwoods
• Promote supplier diversity throughout the
commercial real estate industry
We created the Heart of Highwoods program to
advance diversity and inclusion and community
service in our workforce, our industry and our
communities. As part of this program, we created a
Diversity and Inclusion Group (DIG) that is a council
of coworkers tasked with advancing diversity and
inclusion initiatives.
In 2023, our DIG championed the following initiatives:
• Continued partnerships with the Cristo Rey Work
Study Program, and the UNC Kenan Flagler Real
Estate Diversity Initiative and NAIOP Atlanta
internship programs.
• Launched the REALM Highwoods
Mentorship Program.
• Participated in the Raleigh Chamber DEI Conference.
• Created DIG branding and a landing page on
Highwoods intranet and distributed educational
content to coworkers celebrating diversity in
the workplace.
• Heather Lamb, Senior Vice President and Atlanta
Market Leader, delivered a presentation to over 1,600
people on behalf of Atlanta Women’s Foundation,
encouraging support to empower women and girls
in the metro Atlanta area to reach their goals and
break the cycle of generational poverty.
