EXPLANATIONS
Some products display an circular icon illustrating a key feature
that it offers - use this page to check what these features are and the
benefits offered.
FC Finish
Fluorocarbon is a water and fluid repellent finish
applied to fabrics to offer additional wearer
protection, including garments certified to
EN13034. It can also be renewed during the
laundry process.
Inherent
Inherent fabrics offer Flame Resistant properties
that do not wash out versus fabrics that are
treated with a chemical finish and only tested
and certificated for a limited number of wash
cycles.
Hi-Vis (Class 1, 2 or 3)
EN ISO 20471 is the European Norm for HiVisibility garments. Garments are classified
according to the amount of Background Material
(usually Yellow or Orange) and Reflective Tape
that is present on the garment.
Padded
Garments featuring the Padded icon offer an
additional lining for winter warmth.
100% Cotton
100% cotton garments are cool and lightweight.
Used in warmer clients including the Marine
Industry and also in the Fuel Transport Industry
where the use of man-made fibres such as
Polyester are not recommended.
Welding
This icon signifies garments that are designed
for the Welding Industry. The fabrics used
are typically heavier, sometimes with special
finishes. Fastenings are also designed to protect
from weld spatter.
Ladies
S1, S1P, S3, S5, SB, SB-P
These icons refer to the protection that the
Safety Footwear offers. Please refer to the
explanation of these Standards in the EN Norm
section of this catalogue for further details.
Waterproof
Footwear designated as S3 is Water Resistant,
whereas the term ‘Waterproof’ implies that
there is a membrane present in the footwear
that makes the footwear waterproof.
HRO
Footwear carrying this icon have Heat Resistant
Outersoles (HRO) to 300°C. Often specified
in higher risk work environments including
Petrochemical Processing industries.
CUT1, CUT2, CUT3
Cut Protective Gloves are classified into various
levels. At Hazchem we offer Cut 1, 2, 3 gloves.
Other cut levels are available should you require
higher levels of protection.
SNR
Ear Protection is classified according to the noise
reduction it offers. The SNR rating provides a
level of noise reduction and should be used in
conjunction with your noise risk assessments.
PU
Polyurethane (PU) is a material used in some
of our Wellington Boots and offers additional
resistance against chemicals versus PVC.
Zip Sided
Many constructional or industrial sites have
restricted the use of Rigger Boots due to lack of
ankle support. Zip sided boots offer easy on/off
whilst offering ankle support.
The range of garments available for Ladies has
progressively grown over the last few years and
where a garment is available in a Ladies Fit, we
show this with the Ladies icon.
Composite Toecap
Traditional toecaps and midsoles in Safety
Footwear are metal and Composite Toecaps
and Midsoles offer advanced materials including
Kevlar. Some styles are also entirely Metal-Free.
