CRIME SCENE DIVISION
CRIME SCENE DIVISION STATISTICS
Crime Scene Division
The Hartford Police Department’s Crime Scene Division (CSD) is an important component of the Investigative Services Bureau. The detectives of CSD are highly
trained, specializing in crime scene forensic processing
and fatal traffic crash investigation. When processing
crime scenes, CSD detectives take photographs, search
for evidence, laser scan scenes for reconstruction, collect
DNA samples, develop latent fingerprints when possible
and properly secure evidence. CSD is one of the only
full-time crime scene units in the State of Connecticut.
The unit works in collaboration with the other detective
bureau divisions on major criminal incidents as well as
assisting Patrol with investigations.
