SPECIAL EVENTS DIVISION
Special Events Division
The Hartford Police Special Events Division is tasked with planning, staffing, and monitoring numerous permitted activities throughout the City. These include parades, concerts, cultural celebrations, and many neighborhood functions. The Special Events Division works closely with the Hartford Police Traffic Division and the
Community Services Bureau to ensure each occasion is provided with police coverage.
In this past year, the Special Events
Division has faced many challenges
similar to the rest of our agency. Due
to the COVID-19 pandemic, many
events were canceled or modified this
year. These included most large indoor and outdoor gatherings, including sporting events.
While COVID-19 restrictions resulted in a change or postponement of
events, it also created an opportunity for organizations and individuals
to help those area residents in most
need. The Special Events Division
assisted in planning and staffing
COVID-19 testing clinics, food donation drives, distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) medical supplies, and other community
activities.
Looking ahead, we are hopeful that in 2021 the City will return to its vibrant and busy events schedule. The
Special Events Division will continue to assist with the planning and execution of these events in the New Year.
