Willow is a versatile natural resource which has been used by
craftspeople for millennia. It has been weaved and manipulated to
create all manner of household essentials, most commonly baskets.
Be it for your bicycle, laundry or even a baby, we utilise this timeless
material throughout our lives and homes. They’re also the hallmark
of special occasions such as a traditional picnic or of course the
Christmas Hamper.
Our hamper range is made to order exclusively for the Handmade
Christmas Co. from Salix Viminalis, a hardy willow variety renowned
for being strong and robust. It’s just perfect for making baskets, or in
our case, hampers. With a bi-annual harvest yielding an abundance
of willow our chosen variety is as sustainable, as it is strong.
Meaning that from the same number of hectares you can harvest
sometimes twice as much as you would from some of the slower
growing varieties.
From the outset it was of paramount importance to us that our
hamper baskets could be used long after the contents had been
enjoyed, whether that’s for picnics, storage or better still, on display
in your home.
