Caring for
the Family
When someone you love has memory
loss, you feel the loss too. You’ve lost the
mother who put a note in your lunchbox
every day, the husband who wouldn’t
miss a meal with the family, or the sister
who teased you but never forgot your
birthday.
These are the real losses families feel.
In caring for our residents we also care
for their families. The decision to move a
loved one to our community is not made
lightly. Families are often reluctant to give
up caregiving, feeling they should be able
to do it all themselves. In reality, the
challenges of caring for someone with
memory loss can take a significant toll
on a caregiver’s physical and emotional
health. Our commitment to residents’
families and friends includes regular
support groups and educational workshops
on memory loss. We encourage families to
become an integral part of daily life here
at The Landing at Saco Bay. You may find
your time together is more relaxed when
the stresses of caregiving are reduced.
We welcome family and friends to join us
for events, activities, and meals.
Our goal is to make every day
a good day for our residents and
their families.
