Information about
Dave Walsh
Dave Walsh is an inspiration, a fighter, and someone who
never gives up.
Dave holds multiple world titles and is a world record breaker
for strength competitions in the category of disabled, or
8adaptive9 men.
Dave was born in Brighton in 1986. He9s a father of three.
Dave has to devote much of his week to training so says that
it9s always special to spend quality time with his family.
Dave9s journey into breaking records began in 2012, when he
started competing in able-bodied strength challenges.
This changed dramatically when his arm went numb, and he started losing feeling in the rest of his body.
The numbness grew, and doctors diagnosed Dave with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a disease that means you
lose some feeling in your body. He was soon immobile from the waist down and wheelchair-bound. He
thought his strength career was over.
Dave began watching YouTube videos about strong people who used wheelchairs. He found them
inspiring and decided to start competitions again as a wheelchair user (or an adaptive athlete). He
discovered that just because his body was different, this didn9t mean he could never compete again.
Dave trained hard and went on to win many awards and trophies. Recent accomplishments include
gaining the titles World9s Strongest Adaptive Man 2022 and Britain9s Strongest Disabled Man 2023.
He made Guinness World Records History on 28 May 2023 when he broke the world record for heaviest
wheelchair vehicle pull. He pulled a 9,360-kg truck (as heavy as seven and a half normal cars).
Dave has gained the nickname 8Sitting Bull9.
