Children will already be familiar with the grammatical conventions used in this lesson but may be applying
this to a new writing genre (journalistic writing).
Children will already be very familiar with nonfiction texts. The Guinness World Records book will provide
a new example of a non-fiction or reference text.
Children may be familiar with 8world records9. They are less likely to be familiar with these specific
individuals or their particular strengths.
Children will be familiar with editing their own writing but may find that this method of peer evaluation
(specific proposals to change vocabulary, grammar, etc.) is new to them.
Children should be familiar with drafting and editing their ideas, as well as adding in set grammatical and
form elements against an objective.
The spellings highlighted here are from a typical year 5 and 6 spelling list. Learners may already be
familiar with micro and mini prefixes, as well as these suffix terms, having covered them in year 5, though
these may be new spellings to them altogether.
