Yes to York
The streets are called gates, the gates are called bars,
and the bars are called pubs
A trip to York is always a yes. In every season. The medieval city is one of the most culturepacked in the UK, with Roman roots and Viking in its veins. York’s characterful charm and
homely heart is the reason so many come to visit and return for years to come. The city
itself is full of wonder, where ancient City Walls surround an abundance of gates, bars
and pubs, as well as much more. York has more miles of intact wall than any other city
in England and the City Walls bring people from far and wide to walk the circular route
around the city - definitely one to tick off the bucket list!
The City Walls run on both sides of the River Ouse, which offers beautiful riverside walks
all year round, whether it’s while leaves are goldening in the autumn, while wrapped up in
a big winter coat, or while enjoying fresh spring air or summer sun. As well as strolls, city
cruises flow through the River Ouse regularly too. The city cruises are great fun no matter
what age and touring the city on the water really does make you see York from a whole
new perspective. The River Ouse itself spans 60 miles through fertile land and centuries
of history, along it, you can find York Millennium Bridge, Tower Gardens and York Castle camera at the ready!
