The story of Grand Bahama is rich, diverse, and full of wonder. And a new crop of storytellers will share
their passion for the island’s unique culture, natural beauty, and vibrant way of life… in their own words.
The Grand Bahama Island Promotion Board recently selected a diverse group of local voices to serve as
ambassadors for the island, each with a distinct perspective on what makes their home special. Lynden Lundy,
Zhane’o Newbold, Josh Hall, Alex Thompson, Alannah Vellacott, and Jemonique Barnabie are the faces of this new
wave of storytellers, each eager to share what makes Grand Bahama such a remarkable place to visit and live.
Lynden Lundy, a Laundry Manager by profession, has a deep appreciation for his island's charm. "My favorite thing
about Grand Bahama is its people and beaches," he shares. For Lynden, the warmth and friendliness of the local
community, combined with the serenity of the island’s stunning beaches, truly set it apart. "The peace and
tranquility are what make Grand Bahama unique," he adds, highlighting the sense of calm that envelops visitors
and residents alike.
Zhane’o Newbold, a content creator, filmmaker, and manager of a private resort, offers a unique perspective on
life on Grand Bahama. As a creative professional, Zhane’o captures the essence of the island through his work.
He understands the importance of storytelling and the role it plays in shaping perceptions of the island. Through
his comedic content, he introduces audiences to the hidden gems of Grand Bahama, offering a fresh lens on the
beauty and lifestyle of the island.
Alannah Vellacott, a marine researcher, conservationist,
science communicator, and freediver, is deeply
committed to preserving the natural environment of
Grand Bahama. Through her work, Alannah helps
protect the island’s rich marine life by educating others
about the importance of conservation. Alannah’s
passion for both science and the environment is evident
in her efforts to bring awareness to the island’s unique
biodiversity. As a freediver, she is able to experience
the beauty of Grand Bahama’s underwater ecosystems
firsthand and shares her awe-inspiring experiences with
others to inspire a greater appreciation for the island’s
natural wonders.
Boat Captain Josh Hall greatly admires his fellow Grand
Bahamians. He notes that their resilience is something
that has been a hallmark of the island’s spirit,
particularly in the face of challenges. He also highlights
the island's unique diversity as one of his favorite
aspects of Grand Bahama. "You can go to a beach
and be surrounded by people or find another where you
won’t see a soul!" Josh points out, emphasizing that
Grand Bahama has something for everyone, whether
you're seeking social interaction or peaceful solitude.
"Grand Bahama has SO MUCH to offer," he says with
pride, underscoring his love for the island.
