Grand Life Winter 2024 2025 (DIGITAL) - Flipbook - Page 42
From June 5th to 8th, the Grand Bahama Boating Fling will offer a unique experience for those who love the sea.
The event takes place at Old Bahama Bay Resort, a luxury marina that combines Bahamian charm with high-end
amenities. Participants will have the chance to explore the ecological wonders of Grand Bahama, from its pristine
beaches to its rich marine life. For those who prefer culinary adventures, the Freetown Fire Hearth Food &
Heritage Festival, held on the Whit Monday holiday, offers a chance to experience the best of local Bahamian
food and heritage. The festival is an annual celebration of Grand Bahama’s first black settlement and provides an
immersive cultural experience with food, music, and storytelling.
During the summer months, two standout events will take place. The Goombay Summer festivities, held every
Thursday in July, will feature traditional music, dance, and a celebration of Bahamian culture. For food lovers, the
Grand Bahama Island Restaurant Fest, taking place from August 2nd to 16th, will provide an incredible opportunity
to sample the best dishes the island has to offer. Whether you’re craving fresh seafood or Bahamian specialties,
this event is a culinary journey not to be missed.
August will also see the return of the High Rock Seafest, a festival that celebrates all things seafood. Held
annually in High Rock, this event draws visitors from far and wide to enjoy delicious conch, lobster, fish, and more,
all while listening to live music and watching Junkanoo rush-outs. For those seeking a more leisurely pace, the
Smith’s Point Fish Fry, the oldest fish fry in the Bahamas, is a weekly event that takes place every Wednesday. This
iconic gathering offers a taste of authentic Bahamian seafood in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
