stresses that Viva is all about family.
“We have Bahamian employees who have been with
us since we opened the resort 30 years ago,” says
Colussi. “We have guests who visit the hotel and stay
here in The Bahamas for several weeks, travel to
another property, and return the following year. Viva
is a family. We are a safe, family-friendly environment,
with amenities for children and adults.”
The resort sits on a beautiful sprawling beach with
features including a freshwater pool, a children's pool,
and a Jacuzzi. The inclusive package gives the guest
access to sports activities and excursions on the
property like kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, introductory
diving lessons, windsurfing, archery, tennis, beach
volleyball, aqua gym, and trapeze lessons. For guests
who require a little more adventure, Nexus Excursions
offers land and water excursions including horseback
riding, fishing, city tour, dolphin and shark swimming,
and much more. The hotel also has a diving center
that offers diving courses to obtain the PADI
certification and a variety of excursions for certified
divers.
Colussi admits that the beaches and underwater life
are among the top reasons visitors travel to Grand
Bahama and stay at Viva Wyndham Fortuna.
“Our guests love the white powder beach and access
to the sea. Viva has 9 resorts, Fortuna has the biggest,
and the nicest beach,” says Colussi. “The Bahamas is
also one of the few places in the Caribbean that still
has pristine underwater life. It is a prime destination
for snorkeling and diving.”
Grand Bahama residents have even caught the Viva
Fortuna “bug” and have begun taking advantage of
the hotel’s restaurants and other amenities by booking
weekend stay-cations.
