“Of course, many are aware of the fact that the airport
sustained devastating damages in the wake of
Hurricane Dorian (2019) however, now we have the
opportunity to rebuild and transition as well as to
continue rising to the demands for movement of both
passengers and freight.
Post-Hurricane Dorian our support systems and partners
in the airport environment have been reinstated and
now movement domestically and internationally is fully
functional with operating hours beginning from 6:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as our FBO facility supporting
private aircraft movement too,” Huyler stated.
As a matter of fact, two days following Hurricane
Dorian the GBIA was open to support business on
Grand Bahama inclusive of domestic and international
movement from carriers as small as a single-engine to
820 aircrafts on our runway which exceeds 11,000 feet.
Encouraging all and sundry to make good use of the
offerings of the GBIA, which include non-US and US
travel services by American Airlines, Silver Airlines,
Bahamasair, Flamingo Air, Sunwing Airlines as well as
the soon to be introduced Neos Air, the GBIA Aviation
