MEET
CARLA-ROSE
Showcasing the beauty and
wonder of Grand Bahama with
Visitors
Grand Bahama is a wonderland that is filled with
stunning natural beauty, a wide range of restaurants,
comfortable accommodations and little hidden gems
that make the island unique. But, it is truly the people
of Grand Bahama that make the island special.
Carla-Rose, owner of Carla Rose Taxis and Tours, says
that when she hosts visitors, she likes to delve deeper
than the usual attractions - she likes to give them an
experience that is all their own. She also notes that it
is important to meet people, explore, and venture off
the beaten path to truly have a memorable and
immersive Grand Bahama adventure.
“My mother was a taxi driver, and that’s how I became
a taxi driver. And, I just love meeting people, so that’s
why I got into the field. It means a lot to me. I give
people-to-people service.”
Carla-Rose, who has been in the taxi and tour business
for a number of years, says that she enjoys showcasing
her hometown through her unique perspective.
“I was born and raised here. And, I love the people of
Grand Bahama. Guests always want to eat where I
eat, so I’ll take them into areas like Pinder’s Point and
Smith’s Point and Eight Mile Rock - I even offer to
introduce them to Chicken in Da Bag.” She says that
once her tours are completed, it’s those moments that
stand out with visitors. “They always tell their friends
and family - make sure that [Carla-Rose] takes you to
get Chicken In Da Bag.”
She also loves introducing guests to the wonders of
the island, like Ben’s Cave (located at Lucayan
National Park), for example.
Carla-Rose says that what makes her work so
rewarding is the human connections that she makes
with her guests, and it is not uncommon that they
recommend her to their fellow travelers and loved
ones who may be visiting the island.
