Three-day emergency food supplies were given to
local people in crisis in Dover in the 12 months to the
end of May 2021, 36% of which were children43
that have faced most families.
3. Support for substance misuse
Dover has a high prevalence of substance misuse
with a 62% increase in 2020.44 It ranks second in the
county for substance misuse as the primary reason for
hospital admission.45 There is a need to reduce this
pressure on the NHS and other local services and
support people with healthier and less risky behaviours.
In addition, 261 crimes related to drugs offences were
reported.46
