More Jobs
All through the years, the foundation’s activities have been expanding, particularly in the years
2010-2013. Turn-over increased with almost 90 percent, from app. 28 mill DKK in 2010 to 53 mill.
In 2013. While the increase reflected good results in every field, Glad Food had by far the biggest
growth in sales.
Along with the many new initiatives came the need for an over-all strategy for the future. In 2011,
after dialogue with all departments, the first business plan saw the light of day.
With the specific aim of creating more meaningful jobs, the course was charted for further growth through increasing focus on fields with much manual activity, initially canteen work.
Mikkel Holmbäck explains: “We had to recognise that were we to succeed, we needed to focus
more on expanding and running businesses. We introduced terms like ‘growth focussed business’ –
not for the sake of growth, but to reach our goal of meaningful education and employment, focussing on areas with better job opportunities.”
In 2013 Glad Foundation initiated a dialogue with The Obel Family Foundation about support for
upscaling Glad Food to create even more opportunities for creating jobs and education. Two years
of cooperation with a focus on business development was agreed, which again led to increased
growth.
