MagnusHonouredTwo of the present employees at TV-Glad Ringsted have been aboard since the beginning, i.e. BlåBerglind, a teacher, and Magnus Schultz, who is employed on special terms. The two participatedin building the TV branch from scratch, and since 2014 they have been part of TV-Glad’s overallproduction.“When I started doing TV, I had this idea that I wanted to save the world. No less. Information andthus the destruction of prejudice via the grand media at the time, TV. But commercialisation, thequest for viewers and the personal need for a well-paid job, steadily narrowed my possibilities fordoing anything meaningful. I quit TV for a spell, until I ran into Glad, and realised that it made lots ofsense. And even if I’m dead tired by the phrase making a difference, I actually think that’s what wedo!” says Blå Berglind. He talks about the first years of hard work and building competencies. Andthe inherent pride when as staff member does a fantastic job.“In the context of challenging politicians, our theme was invisible disabilities. We ended up withMagnus having our mayor dancing sideways through City Hall in order for him to understand howone lives with OCD. By ordering his mayor about, Magnus’ had his own limits exceeded dramatically. And he did it with such bravura that he grew at least 10 centimetres that day, but he can explain thathimself,” says Blå Berglind. And that particular incident does happen to be the one that Magnus Schultz choses as his specialmoment during his years at Glad:“When I was taken on, we had no programmes and no experience. This changed in 2014 whenwe started producing for the national local TV along with the other branches. And what makes meparticularly proud, was the item where we tested politicians’ handicap insight under the headline‘cool or slack at handicap’. I instructed Ringsted’s mayor on how he should move about in City Hallas if he suffered from OCD. He wasn’t allowed to touch door handles as they might be loaded withbacteria from someone else. He had to disinfect edges of the rostrum before speaking, and he hadto consider carefully his every move. Later I was told that it made a deep impression on him. In 2017I was honoured with Ringsted Municipality’s Handicap Prize. Apparently, the event had also madea deep impression Enhedslisten’s town councillor Jan Jacobsen who is physically disabled,” saysMagnus Schultz.40
