GLAD 20 YEARS - Flipbook - Page 12
Media Darling
In next to no time, Thomas became a true media darling, nicknamed The Baron, because of his
charisma and clout. He became familiar with the likes of Lukas Graham and local celebrities
Johnny Reimar and Erik Clausen and many more; he also like to perform himself.
“Previously, I stuttered a lot. I learnt to manage it through singing, and I was encouraged to
continue. This has meant a lot to me,” Thomas says. Even if he shakes his head at the thought,
Thomas is well aware that in those years he and Majbritt constituted TV-Glad’s public face.
“And what might a private face be? All that doesn’t really matter.”
But it does! In the following years things accelerated fast. One of TV- Glad’s slogans ’Full of Great
Stories’ didn’t come out of the blue. Some of the early series were Glad Fashion, What do You do,
Conversations on the Euro and Novotny’s Corner. The programmes received massive attention
from news and weekly media. When covering anything from film openings, general elections or art
exhibitions, TV-Glad itself became the focus of several other media. Even the Queen accepted to be
interviewed. The homeless’ newspaper, Hus Forbi, was the first to write about TV-Glad. The tabloids,
gossip magazines, major dailies, and even the national TV News soon followed suit.
