A Message from our
President & CEO
Chuck Goodrich
This year of 2021 is going to be_______. I left the ‘fill in the blank’ on purpose. A great lesson we
all can take from the unique, unusual, and remarkable year of 2020, is that no one can completely
predict how a year will go. Plans can and should be set but remain vigilant, resilient, and flexible.
So far, we have gotten through the first month of 2021 the way we have planned for it to go. The
plans we set in place for this year, complete with continuing all the adjustments made due to the
2020 COVID attack, have provided a proven pathway for our teams to compete and compete to
win! Like you, we are taking it week-by-week.
On Friday, January 8, we took a leap of faith and held a company-wide virtual meeting with ALL our
employees. Yes, we took an hour out of our morning, closed-down production, and had everyone
join on-line for our yearly meeting. It began with me greeting and providing some introductory
remarks, followed by a video presentation reviewing our 2020 company performance and
celebrations. I then came back on to wrap up that portion and then introduce the next video with an
education piece that led into our 2021 Strategic Plan.
I then gave closing comments, and
afterwards everyone went back to work.
It did have a slight technical hiccup, but that was quickly remedied. Overall, it was a terrific
experience with 1700 folks at approximately 300 hundred jobsites, as well as many Service vans,
from across 24 states joining all at one-time.
In a one-hour timeframe, we were able to have all
our employees hear the same message at the same time. Had it not been for what we learned
during the previous year in doing virtual meetings because of COVID restrictions, I do not know if
we would have considered doing our company meeting this way. This is a good example of being
and staying flexible…we never want to fall prey to the “we have always done it this way” mindset.
I am very optimistic for 2021 based on our preparation and commitment to our sound cornerstone
of reliable resources, reliable outcomes, reliable insights, and our genuine care for people. This
year we are adding focus to four critical aspects for success: HUSTLE, TALENT, GRIT, and
EXECUTION.
These four will help keep us “green and growing” and avoid becoming “ripe and
rotting.” As you can tell, I am looking forward to this being an awesome year for Gaylor Electric!
Thanks for you part in the story of Gaylor Electric. It has been a great adventure and look forward
to the adventure adding new chapters of success in 2021. Stay safe and take care of each other.
