WE WANT THE GREEN TRANSITION
A few months before Frode Laursen’s 75th
anniversary, the Danish Minister of Transport
Thomas Danielsen (Liberal Party) visited the
company’s headquarters in Vien. He didn’t
come to congratulate the company on its anniversary, but rather to hear about the prospects of
opening up legislation for so-called DUO2 road
trains – double trailers up to 34 metres long.
“We can be ready with 25 of them as soon as
we’re able,” said CEO of Frode Laursen, Thomas
Corneliussen, to the minister.
One central argument for introducing
DUO2 is a smaller carbon footprint. Compared
to a conventional truck, it makes it possible to
transport twice as many goods as today without
emiing a corresponding increase in CO₂.
“We at Frode Laursen want the green transition, and this is an obvious opportunity to
optimise transport and thus reduce our carbon
emissions,” said Thomas Corneliussen at the
meeting with the Minister.
PRAGMATIC COMMON SENSE
The investment in DUO2 road trains as an
element of the green transition expresses the
pragmatic, common-sense thinking that Frode
Laursen has applied to many areas over the
years.
“We get taller vehicles, longer vehicles
and increased gross vehicle weight, which
will change – disrupt, even – our entire fleet.
The green transition is not just about electric
cars or hydrogen cars. It’s also about reaching
for the low-hanging fruit, for example how
we can get more pallets on the truck. We
must ensure that the vehicles we drive are
fully loaded and carry goods in both directions.”
So says technical director Jan Skov, one
of the key players in Frode Laursen’s journey
towards a greener future.
USING THE ENTIRE PLAYING BOARD
Plucking the low-hanging fruit does not mean
that Frode Laursen will avoid investing in trucks
