Sweden.
The award commiee gave their reason for
the choice by explaining that she “inspires and
encourages her employees, while also understanding that everyone is different, each with
their own talents and abilities”.
COOPERATION WITH THE MUNICIPALITY
In Denmark, the municipalities are responsible
for working with vulnerable citizens so that
they maintain a connection to the labour market.
The logistics centres in both Hørning and Jyderup cooperate with Skanderborg and Holbæk
and Kalundborg municipalities respectively and
make internships available so that citizens can
get into work for a trial period.
In both places, there are several examples
of people who have worked their trial period
before being employed later permanently. One
example is Martin Jensen from Jyderup, who
was about to go on disability retirement due
to PTSD and social anxiety. However, via the
municipality, he was able to come out to the
logistics centre in Jyderup, where Karina Öztürk
has been taking care of vulnerable citizens for
many years:
“Karina was good at talking to me and
praising me. And she also pushed me to talk
to other people,” says Martin, who was offered
a permanent job aer a couple of months and
now works regular hours in the warehouse.
“It was fantastic. I gained a lot of self-confidence and worked hard, and this is largely down
to Karina,” says Martin.
