statutory inspections once a year. Finally, Frode
Laursen also has its own tyre centre, where
from 1 August to 1 April two or three people
are employed full-time to prepare winter tyres
so that the trucks can meet legal requirements
and cope with winter conditions in Finland,
Sweden, and Norway.
Although Frode Laursen has many facilities
and skills in-house, it is continually assessed
whether doing the task themselves makes the
most sense. If it can be done beer and cheaper
by others, then the task should be done out of
the house.
CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE
DEPARTMENT IN VITTEN
The workshop was also previously responsible
for the maintenance of the buildings, but as the
company’s warehouse area increased, a dedicated construction department was established in
Frode Laursen.
“Over the years, we have opted to buy land
and develop the logistics properties ourselves.
This has meant that we have been able to build
when we want and in our own way, which has
meant that we have built cheaper than many
others. At the same time, we have control
over buildings and have been able to develop
sustainable measures such as sensor-controlled
lighting systems, heat pumps and solar cells,”
says Thorkil.
With the help of caretakers at the individual
warehouses, the construction department
manages everything from the head office in
Vien, and they have a wide range of tasks. In
addition to building new warehouse logistics
properties for both Frode Laursen and external
leasing, the department is also responsible
for the conversion and maintenance of all the
properties in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and
Germany. The construction department also
has a primary ongoing task of optimising the
energy consumption of all the properties.
