FRODE LAURSEN HAS ITS
OWN CONSTRUCTION
DEPARTMENT AND WORKSHOP
Many of Frode Laursen’s significant competitors
are asset-light freight forwarding companies
that buy and sell transport solutions but do not
own much of the production equipment. Frode
Laursen, which owns around 700 trucks and
1,750 trailers as well as about 630,000 m² of
warehouses, has chosen a different approach.
“We believe that having control of the
trucks and drivers gives us the best opportunities. But we have found a good combination
between our drivers and contracted hauliers.
With some tasks, it makes most sense to use
our own vehicles, for example, if the customer
demands high quality and strict truck inspections. In other cases, where more flexibility is
needed, external hauliers are a beer option,”
says Thorkil.
At the same time, Frode Laursen has chosen
not only to have its own workshops in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany, but also its own
construction department, which is responsible
for building and maintaining Frode Laursen’s
logistics centres.
OWN INSPECTION STATION AND TYRE CENTRE
The workshop, which today is called the
Technical Department, has been part of Frode
Laursen since the 70s. Here, new trucks are
received and made ready for the road, while
old vehicles are prepped for sale. Some of the
trucks in operation also get checked out in the
workshop to prepare them for inspection. Frode
Laursen has its own inspection station managed
by the company A+. Around 1,000 trucks are
inspected here every year. In addition, 1,750
trailers need to be serviced and inspected
once a year. Not to mention the roughly 1,000
forklis from the warehouse that are due for
