EMIL
IF YOU HAVE GOOD ARGUMENTS,
PEOPLE LISTEN
Emil L Møller
Emil L. Møller is the department manager in the invoicing department in Frode
Laursen, where he started
as a trainee in 2006. He had
just completed his third
year of business school, was
tired of being in education
and had initially planned on
seeing the world. His dad did
not appreciate this plan and
suggested that he apply for a
job with Frode Laursen. Emil
dragged it out for as long as
he could, but one day, his
father came to him with a
dra application he’d wrien.
“I was a bit provoked, but
aer a short, friendly conversation, we agreed that I should send it.”
The application led to a trainee position and
Emil quickly discovered that he had arrived at
a company where suggestions or criticism were
listened to, but only if a specific condition was
met.
“If you had a good argument, people would
listen.” If you came up with suggestions for
good solutions, you could run with them.

Being with a company where you could make a
difference as a young person was great. I think
that one of the things that drives development
at Frode Laursen is that you are constantly challenged on your ideas, including by the young
people.”
PART-TIME STUDIES
Emil gained a lot of practical experience as an
employee at Frode Laursen. However, aer a
few years, he wanted to gain more theoretical
knowledge and started a part-time graduate
diploma in business administration programme
(HD) at Aarhus University.
“Alongside this, my responsibilities grew
here in the department, and sometime later I
became a department manager.”
Emil is pleased that more employees in the
department are also studying alongside their
job, and that some acquire skills that make them
qualified to get a job in another department.
“I think that we’ve got good at job rotation
in Frode Laursen. As a department manager, it’s
nice to retain good employees, but there’s a risk
they’ll get bored if we can’t challenge them. In
the worst-case scenario, they’ll find a job in a
completely different company.”
