FRODE LAURSEN’S
INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE
Driving with notified
waste in gas truck
in the Nordics
Since the mid 60s, Frode Laursen has driven
both north and south of the Danish border.
Back then, they went south with cuts of beef,
bunches of flowers and tubs of ice cream and
brought home goods such as furniture, wine
and fruit. In the Nordic region, Frode Laursen
mainly transported furniture and consumer
goods to and from Denmark.

The share of international trips gradually
increased, however. Around 2005, freight
to and from the countries around Denmark
began to be seen as an integrated part of Frode
Laursen’s market. Establishing logistics centres
in Sweden, Germany and Finland also helped
accelerate this development.
“We distributed across all of Germany from
our hub in Flensburg, while in the Nordic region
we began to work a lot with domestic freight
forwarding in both Sweden and Finland. In the
Nordic region in particular, we now consider
both our cross-border and in-country shipping
as part of our home market,” says Thorkil.
Today, international freight forwarding is
handled by Road International, with the Nordic
and Continent divisions operating under it.
Nordic manages in-country and cross-border
transports throughout the Nordic region (except
Denmark), while Continent handles all other
European countries.
In addition to everyday consumer goods
and building materials, Road International
handles a large amount of freight in Recycling.
Frode Laursen can transport waste out of town
in the same vehicles that ship the consumer
goods in.
