other authorities were some of the means put
into action to stop the plans.
A SHUT-DOWN CABLE FACTORY WAS THE
START OF A NEW WAREHOUSE
The project never came to fruition. Instead, in
March 2000, Frode Laursen took over an 8,000
m² cable factory at Industriparken in Jyderup,
closed by NKT Cables during a round of savings.
There was such an influx of customers on
Zealand that over the next 15 years there was a
need for almost constant expansion. Not only
was Industriparken expanded, but a large plot
of land was also acquired on Bødkervej in the
same industrial area. From 2000 to 2015, the
area grew from 8,000 to 120,000 m² and was
mainly filled with consumer goods for distribution throughout the Nordic region.
A UNIQUE CUSTOMER ENTERED THE SCENE –
ENZYMES FOR THE WHOLE WORLD
Although it is primarily consumer goods that
fill up the warehouse shelves in Jyderup, they
also have a slightly particular customer in stock.
Since 2021, enzymes from Novozymes have
been filling up the logistics centre in Jyderup.
They are produced at the enzyme factory on the
outskirts of Kalundborg, about 20 kilometres
further west. The products are stored in big bags
and pallet tanks labelled ‘Poland,’ ‘Argentina,’
‘Netherlands’ and many other countries. Everywhere where the enzymes are sent and used, for
example in foodstuffs and washing powder.
Part of one of the warehouses is fenced in by
a cage, which is where goods to be shipped by
air freight are stored. The goods are loaded on
board the aircra surrounded by security, and
the employees who handle them must undergo
a background check by the police and complete
a special course in air freight. Similarly, the
driver transporting them must be authorised to
carry air freight.
WAREHOUSE FOR HARIBO
A special warehouse managed by Jyderup is
located many kilometres away. Frode Laursen
has been handling the warehouse tasks at Haribo’s factory in Faxe since 2019.
