TORBEN
WE KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THE PALLETS
OF KNORR MUSHROOM SAUCE ARE
Torben Rønde
Torben Rønde has worked for Frode
Laursen almost since the company
moved into the old carpet factory in
Hørning. He is actually a qualified
electrician, however.
“The job became a bit monotonous
for me. Some of my family used to
drive trucks, and I wanted to do the
same, so I applied to Frode Laursen.
It didn’t lead to work as a driver, but I
got a job in the warehouse in Hørning.
There, I spent my first year handling
KiMs’ products before I got behind the
wheel.”
Aer a few years on the road, Torben returned to the logistics centre in Hørning, where
he is now deputy manager.
Many of the goods that pass through the
logistics centre have a peak season. Take the
KiMs crisps, for example.
“In the run-up to Christmas, 20 to 30 vehicles a day can drive out of here carrying KiMs
crisps alone. And that’s just for Jutland and
Funen.”
NO DIRECT CUSTOMER CONTACT
Although the warehouse does not have direct
contact with the customers, Torben believes
that he and his employees make a significant
contribution to the good customer service.
“Good customer service also entails that
we comply with the agreements set up for the
customer and work to ensure their goods are
delivered on time.”
MANAGING THE PALLETS
COMPLIANCE WITH FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS
To outsiders, it can be hard to see a sense of
order on the many shelves filled with goods. But
not when the logistics centre is part of your dayto day routine, like Torben’s.
“We have complete control of where things
are. We scan the pallets into our WMS – Warehouse Management System – with a barcode
unique to the individual pallet, so we know
exactly where the pallets of Knorr Mushroom
Sauce are.”

Frode Laursen’s storage facilities comply with
what’s known as the IFS standard, which ensures food quality and safety.
“Overall responsibility lies with Vien, but
here on site I must focus on ensuring that we
meet the quality required by the certification.
It’s something that has to be followed up on an
ongoing basis,” he explains.
