FE PETRO® IS BORN
In 1988, Charles “Chuck” C. Franklin founded FE PETRO®
with a vision to provide an innovative submersible turbine
pump for the safe transfer of petroleum from underground
tanks to aboveground fuel dispensers.
Chuck partnered with Franklin Electric to provide the motors
that would drive FE PETRO® submersible turbine pumps.
1988
BLUFFTON, INDIANA
Franklin Electric was founded in 1944 in Bluffton, IN, by E.J.
Schaefer and T.W. Kehoe. They named the company Franklin
Electric in honor of Benjamin Franklin, whom they considered
the country’s first electrical engineer. The company’s first
product was a backpack generator to power the radio
equipment paratroopers used during WWII.

FRANKLIN ELECTRIC
Developed in Australia in the late 1960’s, the Franklin Electric submersible fuel
transfer pump was the first submersible pump of it’s kind and played a leading
role in the trend towards the underground storage of petroleum products.
