Framlinghamian
2023 / 2024
I am delighted to welcome you to the 2023/24 edition of the Framlinghamian.
It is with immense pride and admiration that we re昀氀ect on the incredible journey our pupils
have undertaken across the academic year. In the world of education, every year presents
new challenges, opportunities, and collective as well as individual triumphs.
A spirit of intellectual curiosity is central to what we do. If we get the learning culture right so that it is stimulating, challenging and engaging - the right outcomes will follow. We see
academic results not as an end in themselves, but as the byproduct of our learning culture.
A range of fascinating speakers have engaged and inspired our pupils with forwardthinking, global perspectives on a range of subjects from the UN World Food Programme to
Arti昀椀cial Intelligence. This year saw our highest ever number of Higher and Extended Project
Quali昀椀cations completed, on subjects as varied as portraiture in the 18 Century through to
the e昀昀ects of cosmic particles on computers. Our pupils’ intellectual hunger and ambition,
combined with their entrepreneurial spirit, led to recognition as Rising Entrepreneurs at the
University of Su昀昀olk and winners of the National REVAS Business Competition.
We strive in a spirit of service in our community. This year we have developed our
relationship with the Hour Community, and Phab Club goes from strength to strength. Our
Chapel remains our compassionate heartbeat, with 26 candidates con昀椀rmed at a service led
by the outgoing Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, the Rt. Rev. Martin Seeley.
From academic excellence to artistic endeavours, from sporting excellence to joyful
musicianship, our pupils have shown us time and again the true spirit of a Framlinghamian.
As Principal, I have had the privilege of witnessing our pupils develop and progress across
the year, each one an individual, setting their own path and pursuing their own aspirations.
Through the pages that follow, I hope that you will be inspired by the stories of shared
endeavour and individual achievement which showcase the creativity, vibrancy and
individuality of our pupils. I invite you to join me in this celebration of Framlingham College.
