2023 Annual Impact Report FINAL - Flipbook - Page 24
In May, FrameWorks CEO Nat Kendall-Taylor
was invited to speak at the 2023 Nobel Prize
Summit, “Truth, Trust, and Hope,” featuring
speakers from around the globe. In his
presentation, Dr. Kendall-Taylor discussed
two cultural mindsets that undermine trust in
science and two that can be activated to build
trust in science. As he noted, the way we
frame scientific topics—the choices we make
in how we say what we have to say—
influences which of these mindsets become
active and can shape how people see the
world. Watch the full session here.
In July, Dr. Jessica Moyer presented at the
Innovative Agricultural Communications in
California workshop, which provided an
opportunity for participants to interrogate
their existing framing of agriculture and
apply evidence-based framing to their
work. For example, participants
considered the definition of the word
“sustainability” and its applications.
FrameWorks recommendations provided
a structure through which they could
articulate their priorities in shaping policy
and practice, and they did so while
enjoying homemade apple cider from one
of the participant’s own farms.
