PhD student, College of Science || Srikakulam, India
The Purdue Cricket Club
was formed in 1987. The
club participates in the
annual Midwest Cricket
Tournament held from
May to September.
Why Purdue?
Favorite dining?
It had the best natural language processing lab that
would take me.
Fiesta. My friends and I go
every Monday. We don’t
even have to order. They
start making our favorite
vegetable burritos as soon
as they see us.
Best thing
about Purdue?
Hanging out with friends.
We play a lot of sports —
racquetball, badminton,
squash, table tennis, and
volleyball — but we play
cricket the most.

Favorite student
organization?
Research takes up most of
my time, but I am president
of Cricket Club. I’ve been
playing since I was 7. It’s
a huge part of my life. I
looked up the club online
before I came to Purdue.
Favorite tradition?
Purdue Day of Giving. It is
a lot of fun competing with
the Running Club for the
most number of donors. We
are less than one-fifth their
size and beat them for two
consecutive years.
Cool projects?
My research is always cool
to me. My area of research
is natural language processing. I am working on computationally characterizing
hidden agendas of politicians in their responses to
various events. For Cricket
Club, we recently purchased a bowling machine
from India. We spent close
to one year setting it up.
