FPA Connect Autumn 24 - Flipbook - Page 3
FPA EXECUTIVE CHAIR
UPDATE
It doesn’t feel like long ago I was writing my intro for the
previous issue of Connect. The new format has been very
well received and, as always, my personal thanks to Lisa for
pulling everything together.
Since the last issue myself and FPA committee members have been getting out and
about. It was great to have the opportunity to catch up with many members at our
first regional roadshow – and to share more about our Primary Authority Partnership
with Trading Standards.
Attending the Booker Supplier Conference, at Tesco HQ in Welwyn Garden City was
another highlight. Witnessing Go-Pak win the supplier award was a proud moment as
FPA executive chair, further heightened when hearing Bookers Director, Mark Dineen,
explain how Go-Pak and Bookers collaborated to achieve goals and targets.
The FPA was equally delighted to sponsor the Consumer Convenience Award at the
UK Packaging Awards, and judge a number of other award entries. The association
was well represented on the night, although I was unable to attend myself as I was
living it up at the Socius Awards dinner!
While on the topic of awards, planning for the 2025 FPA Awards is well underway and
entries will be opening soon, so watch this space.
But next up in the FPA calendar is the Environment Seminar on 07 November. If you
haven’t got your ticket yet, drop Lisa an email as she may be able to fit you in.
Last but certainly not least, in line with my pledge to strengthen our governance, we
are looking to establish a new FPA Technical Committee, which will liaise with the
SAGA and Regulatory & Compliance Committees to provide technical expertise.
If you or anyone you know is an expert in a specific packaging material type, be it
plastics, board or paper, it would be great to hear from you. Just drop me an email to
markbyrne@foodservicepackaging.org.uk and we can arrange a quick call so I can
explain more about the new committee’s role.
I look forward to being bombarded with nominations! In the meantime, I hope you
enjoy perusing the following pages, and finding out what our members have been up
to over the past few month
Warm regards, Mark
