Andrew explained how the scheme is
administered by the Office for
Product Safety and Standards (OPSS),
ensuring consistency in enforcement.
The Primary Authority has access to
government departments and
national regulators such as the Food
Standards Agency, Defra, CMA, OPSS,
ASA and CTSI.
Membership offers protection from
challenge from enforcement bodies,
as the Primary Authority (PA) deals
with complaints from other enforcers.
Members then had the opportunity
to give their views on the FPA to the
heads of committees in a round
robin.
