Finney Vol. 1 - Immutable Journey - Flipbook - Page 64
Sitting on a bench while swarms of
pedestrians passed him by, Finney had
never felt so alone. He laid down on the
bench and sighed heavily several times.
Unable to proceed with his mission due
to his discomfort, Finney did the only
thing he could think of to do. He called
his girlfriend Snap.
“Finney!” said Snap, answering right
away. “You called me! Awww. Miss me?”
“Hi Snap,” said Finney. “You won’t
believe what just happened.”
“Oh?” said Snap. “Did you complete
your mission? Are you coming home?”
want.”
“Even if it means your processes are
poorly regulated?” asked Snap.
“Oh, Snap,” said Finney. “I’m just upset
right now. But my mission is so important.
What if I come home and get a new chesta
and then stop caring about crypto?”
“No way!” said Snap. “Even if you
wanted to give up, think of all the people
who are counting on you to bring good
information about crypto back to our
planet. I miss you when you’re away,
but I’ve always known you’re doing
something important.”
“Not exactly,” said Finney. “I met a
popular businessman named Mr Shift. He
said he would teach me all about crypto,
but he didn’t teach me very much. And
then he stole my golden chestahedron
and melted it down in a container as hot
as a volcano! Afterwards, he gave me a
little gold coin, as if that makes up for it!”
“What about this,” said Finney. “What
if I come home and get this rusted old
chesta replaced, but then come right
back here to proceed with my mission?”
“He stole your chesta?” said Snap. “But
how will you regulate your processes?”
“That does sound pretty great,” said
Finney. “But my mission will still come first.
I’m not giving up. Just moving forward
in a new way.”
“I don’t know!” said Finney. “He had one
of his workers make me a replacement
chesta, but the replacement has sharp
edges and rust spots. Right now I don’t
even know if my processes are being
regulated correctly! Snap, what am I
going to do?”
“Maybe you should just give up and
come home,” said Snap gently. “One
of our healers can fix you up with a new
chesta, good as new.”
Although Finney was dedicated to his
mission, he considered this. “I think I
should keep trying,” he said. “I want to
come home, but learning about crypto
is maybe more important than what I

“I can’t wait!” said Snap. “We can sit and
drink mineral oil and watch the volcano
together again.”
“Of course,” said Snap. “But I’ll see you
soon either way, right? Promise?”
“I promise,” said Finney.
“So you feel better?” asked Snap.
“A little,” said Finney. “I still sort of feel
like a failure.”
“Things will get better,” said Snap. “We’ll
talk soon.”
Once the call ended, Finney rose from
the bench. Trying to get his bearings
to head back to his ship, he felt unsure
